The Jericho "Spin Machine"

Over four years ago Palestinian terrorists murdered Israel's Minister of Tourism, Rehavam Ze'evi at the Hyatt Hotel in eastern Jerusalem.

To avoid capture by Israel, the assassins and their commander, PFLP leader Ahmed Sa'adat, took refuge in Yasser Arafat's compound in Ramallah. Then to avoid extradition to Israel, Arafat ordered a quickie show trial in which a Palestinian policeman was hastily appointed as judge and another policeman as defense counsel. Within minutes, the four-man hit team were convicted of "offenses against the interests of the Palestinian people" - not of murdering Ze'evi - and sentenced to between one and 18 years imprisonment.

The United States and Britain then brokered an arrangement requiring the killers be held in a Palestinian prison that did not have "revolving doors"! They were transferred to a prison in Jericho under British and American guarantees to Israel that they would indeed be kept in jail under strict supervision. These guarantees were enforced by the placement of British monitors at the prison.

In recent months, Britain and the US repeatedly warned the Palestinian Authority that they would be forced to remove the monitors due to concerns over deteriorating security conditions at the prison. After the Palestinian elections in January that led to a Hamas victory, the leadership of this terrorist organization declared that they would release the murderers of Rehavam Ze'evi, while PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas said he was inclined to meet this demand. It must be remembered that these terrorists killed a sitting government minister. Thus Israel could not let these murderers go free, and minutes after the monitors left Israeli forces moved in.

However, listening to the media, one would think that Israel had committed a great crime. Heaven forbid that we support the Jews!

Imagine what would happen in the United Kingdom if terrorists murdered one of their cabinet ministers. Would the British authorities allow the murderers to be tried elsewhere? Secondly, would they stand by and let them escape? I think not! However, the international 'spin machine' is now working around the clock because, "heaven forbid that we support the Jews".

The European Union was quick to condemn the ensuing lawlessness and kidnappings in Gaza but also called for equal condemnation of Israel. "We must be even handed", they said. Heaven forbid that we support the Jews!

Moreover, the EU also boasted at the same summit that they would not support Hamas but would find a way not to abandon the Palestinian people. To prove it, they have just pledged over one hundred million euros to them. This is typical political 'double speak' because it is the people who voted in and want a terrorist government. Heaven forbid that we support the Jews!

No, the real issue is millions of Euros/Dollars that the wider Middle East region has invested in Europe. If they were to withdraw their investments, there would be chaos in Europe. Heaven forbid that we support the Jews! So the spin machine will continue and Israel will be accused of pouring fuel on the already volatile situation in the region and ways must be found to "talk with terrorists" like Hamas. Heaven forbid that we should ever tell the truth and support the Jews.

With the price of oil spiraling out of control and, once again, the energy interests of Europe and the West being threatened, it is definitely not politically correct to side with truth and stand firm. Heaven forbid that we support the Jews!

In the end, heaven will tell the truth and then the nations will cry "heaven forgive us for not supporting the Jews".
