Does America Have a Future?

Gary Cooperberg, June 15, 2005

I first met Judge Roy Moore in Midland Texas. We were both guest speakers on a local Christian television network that broadcast from a hotel banquet hall. Since that event I have been following his exploits in the news and have been amazed at the results of his efforts. Judge Moore is a Bible scholar and also well versed in American history and constitutional law. As a public servant he became well aware of the fact that the USA is rapidly losing its moral foundation. His assessment was that by having removed the recognition of G-d from schools and government, owing to a gross misinterpretation of the first amendment to the constitution, the government of the USA has opened to door to unbridled decadence which has led to drug abuse, murder, rape, and other lawless behavior.

Having achieved the position of Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, Judge Moore considered it a personal responsibility to his country to do what he could to restore at least an official recognition of G-d in government by erecting and displaying a monument of the Ten Commandments at the entrance to the Supreme Court building. This token statement, which was paid for by private funds, was taken as an assault upon the first amendment by anti-religion groups such as the ACLU. These groups took the Chief Justice to court in order to have this monument removed.

In normal times such an effort would have been laughed out of any court. But, as Judge Moore so accurately realized, we are not living in normal times. It defies rationality that federal judges could rule that recognition of the G-d of Creation on the part of government is unconstitutional! The truth is that many of our judges and government officials themselves do not recognize G-d. Their personal non-belief has colored the way they interpret the law in such a radical way as to enable them to literally rewrite the constitution to suit their (non) beliefs!

Although Judge Moore meticulously presented factual evidence that the most basic foundations of the United States included overt recognition of G-d and paid homage to Him as the primary source of our blessings, the "modern" justices none the less found such expressions to go against our constitution. Yet these judges brought no valid basis by which such a conclusion could be reached. When challenged by the fact that even the court which made such an absurd finding opened its session with the words, "G-d save America and this honorable court", the judge responded by claiming that such a phrase was merely an archaic practice which does not convey any genuine meaning. In other words he considered recognition of G-d acceptable only if it has no genuine meaning. Judge Moore stood by his beliefs in both G-d and the Constitution. As a result he was removed from his position as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama!

Clearly the United States of America is in grave danger of losing the moral foundations upon which it was built. It was only by standing upon these foundations that America grew into the great nation is has become. The abandonment of these most basic values has already led to a decline in morality. Crime is running rampant in all sectors of American society, including government circles. By denying G-d, the very existence of the USA is being placed in jeopardy.

Project Shofar is a small voice calling out the same message. Although its primary goal is to reach out to American Jews with the message to start making plans to come home to Israel, it also seeks to encourage Christian Zionists, and patriots like Judge Roy Moore, to try to save the USA from continuing upon the path of self destruction.

The founding fathers took the Bible as a blueprint to set up a new and G-dly nation, trying to emulate the Children of Israel. They looked at their new country as a Promised Land and named many of their cities after cities in the Land of Israel, such as Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jericho and Hebron. There was even a suggestion that the national language be Hebrew!

How ironic that our generation has not only abandoned that Biblical standard, but has sought to deprive the true Children of Israel from rebuilding the genuine Promised Land in the Land of Israel! Demanding that Jews be uprooted from homes in the Holy Land in order to make room to build a new terrorist state on Holy soil from which there is no doubt that Arabs will continue their efforts to try to destroy Israel, is a slap in the face to the Living G-d of Creation and will bring His Wrath upon the United States of America.

We are living in an age which will soon usher in the redemption of all of Mankind. All people and nations are being judged by how they relate to our Creator. In the Jewish State as well we have a government which has relegated G-d to fantasy. They share the pompous attitude of American officials who brazenly deny G-d. There will be a price to pay for this arrogance. The State of Israel is the beginning of fulfillment of Biblical prophesy. There is no power on Earth that can stop that prophesy from being fulfilled, be it the American President or even the Israeli Prime Minister. Israel will endure and grow in spite of all efforts to destroy her. We certainly will suffer harsh punishment for our failure to stand with G-d, but destruction is just not a possibility, as G-d Himself watches over this country day and night, protecting her from our enemies and from our own foolish leaders. Such cannot be said for the United States of America. The only hope for that country is that the American people find the strength to return to their Biblical roots. The tiny minority calling themselves Christian Zionists are the ones to whom this task falls. Unless you rally together and become a force to be reckoned with, America, like all the great powers of the past, will soon fall into the dustbin of history.
