The OSCE appointed a special representative for anti-Semitism.

The move by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe is believed to be the first time an international body of member states has had such a position. The American Jewish Committee welcomed the move.

"The creation of this new post indicates that European nations are recognizing the uniqueness of anti-Semitism and are ready to confront this most vicious form of hate," said David Harris, the American Jewish Committee’s executive director.

The move comes after the OSCE held conferences to address anti-Semitism and racism in the past year.
