Lau: Prepare For European Deluge Gary Fitleberg, December 4, 2004Israel should prepare to absorb Europe's Jews, a former Israeli chief rabbi said. "I see the end of the Diaspora of Jews in Europe," Meir Lau said in a statement quoted Friday in Ha'aretz. He cited increased anti-Israel activism and statistics showing that Germans were weary of hearing about the Holocaust. "I call on the government to prepare for a new phase in the spiritual and physical absorption of European Jewry before they consider emigrating to the United States or Australia," Lau said.
