Canada Gives Conditional Consent To Al-Jazeera Broadcasts

In a move hailed by Canadian Jewish groups, the Canadian Radio-Television and Communications Commission (CRTC), has decided to grant a conditional broadcasting license to Al-Jazeera, the Arabic-language television news channel with an anti-American, anti-Israel, anti-Western civilization bias and slant.

The CRTC placed the responsibility for monitoring program content directly on Canadian digital cable providers.

The strict conditions for the license had been set out by the Canadian Jewish Congress in a legal brief as an alternative to denying a broadcast license to Al-Jazeera -- which has a history of anti-Jewish content.
