Bin Laden Tape Reveals Complexity of Terror By America’s Enemy

By Kevin D. Korenthal, October 31, 2004

The brothers, who conducted the operation, all they knew was that they have a martyrdom operation and we asked each of them to go to America, but they didn't know anything about the operation, not even one letter. But they were trained and we did not reveal the operation to them until they are there and just before they boarded the planes.

So I ask you my friends; will you suggest we show weakness to this enemy? This enemy that plans and trains their soldiers for tasks they will not complete for years? Tasks that will involve the murder of innocent civilians as a means to effect disaster an attack on our military would not yield? I say we can show no weakness. We must kill or capture this enemy until it is dead.

So can we defeat this enemy? I can tell you that no enemy in history has offered quite this high of a threat. But I can also tell you this enemy seeks nothing less and nothing more than any former enemy of this country. They seek world domination of their way of life, their ideology. And they do not seek to make the best of the elements they seize. America, for all its brute strength, has strived to turn once war torn nations on the righteous path to freedom and Democracy. The enemy seeks only to institute its religion/world view for the benefit of its elite. The "people" are not the consideration. No concern is giving for the rights of the individual or opposing group.

So we can win this war. But we must be resolute that winning in full is the only acceptable outcome. We must be willing to pay any cost and bare any burden to achieve victory. The results of Vietnam and even The Korean War must not be accepted. President Bush has been waging The War On Terror as if it were a world war. WWI and WWII were not named that while in progress although WWI was called "the war to end all wars." Who is to say that this war is not a "world war?" Regardless, it is a war that requires a multifaceted approach that combines the carrot and the stick. If a nation accepts that tyranny and WMD will not be fashionable this century (i.e. Pakistan and Libya), they gain protection and commerce the likes of which even Mexico would be jealous. If they do not get on board, they face annihilation. And when I say annihilation, I refer directly to the regimes and not the people of foreign lands. The people in those lands are just as much the victim of tyranny as the U.S. is, if not more so.

If we are to guarantee our own security, we must cause tyrannical regimes to fall and be replaced by Democratic Government and personal freedom. That is the answer to Iraq and it is the answer that the world is not yet ready to hear. But they will understand soon enough. When America goes to the polls on November 2nd, they will, in majority, vote to re-elect the man best suited to see that our children do not live under the threat of terrorist tyranny. And in that choice the world we see the resolve of America.
