Presbyterian Church Accuses Israel of Being Apartheid State

The General Assembly of the United States Presbyterian Church has approved in a 431-62 vote a decision equating Israel with apartheid South Africa, according to Forward magazine.

The resolution calls for the church to divest itself from companies that receive $1 million or more in profits per year from investments in Israel or have invested $1 million or more in Israel.

The move follows extensive recent ‘divestment’ campaigns by Palestinian activists on US university campuses, which have sought to portray Israel as a pariah state, and put pressure on the US government to cut back the millions of dollars of military aid sent to Israel each year.
