Czech Republic: Court Lessens Sentence For Publisher Of Hitler’s "Mein Kampf" Radio Free Europe/Radio LibertyPrague, 11 August 2003 (RFE/RL) -- A Czech court today lessened a previous sentence and dropped a fine for a publisher who translated and sold Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf" in Czech. A Prague district court handed the publisher a 22-month suspended sentence and three year's probation for defaming Jews. State lawyers said the Czech translation of "Mein Kampf" promoted neo-Nazism and anti-Semitism in the Czech Republic. Zitko said he translated and sold "Mein Kampf" as a historical book, noting his company also produced translations of Karl Marx's "Das Kapital." The case has been winding through the Czech legal system since 2000.
