Israel To Seek France’s Help In Building Nuclear Power Plants
International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, 8 Mar 2010
Israeli cabinet minister Uzi Landau will be in Paris this week for an international conference on civilian nuclear power, during which he is expected to announce Israel’s interest in using French help in building nuclear power plants for the production of electricity.
Israel’s electricity grid is in the throes of a severe shortage, only slightly less severe than the more publicized water shortage, and nuclear power is widely viewed as the best long-term solution.
The conference, co-sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, is being held in Paris partly due to the fact that France leads the world in the field, with 80% of its electricity needs coming from nuclear power.
