America Can Win Only By Siding With Israel

By Linda Torres, April 7, 2002

I like to win. I think most Americans like to win. We’re made that way after a long history of winning, sometimes starting out as the underdog and winning but most often just winning. We have lost on occasions. But usually those incidents have occurred because we lost our concentration, direction, or motivation, not because we were otherwise not capable of winning.

The world understands our ability to win and they envy us for that ability. What the world doesn’t understand is that much of our ability to win comes from our understanding of who the consummate Winner is. Not everyone in this country subscribes to that understanding, especially in these times, but enough of us realize that our victories have been orchestrated by God’s Spirit that we remain successful.

Part of arriving at the understanding that our destiny is arranged by the Almighty is accomplished by knowing what He desires to come about. It’s clear that there are certain moral behaviors that are required by God to please Him, but among other things, who we "run" with also influences the success of our endeavors. It is well known that if you choose to run with thugs, not only are you influenced by their behavior, but some how you can end up at the wrong place at the wrong time doing the wrong thing. And usually the end of the affair has you holding the bag looking like the sole guilty party.

The US, by merely appearing to be "even-handed" in its relationship to the Middle East violence, is close to tipping the balance of running with thugs. Have we become so used to watching the violence there that we can no longer decide who our true friends are? Worse yet that it is no longer clear to us who the murders are and who the victims are? Is our need for oil so desperate that luxury and our greed and laziness to find new energy technology have pushed us to choose our enemies against our friends?

To say that we must negotiate with a power that is executing its own citizens to maintain control of the "government," not to mention murdering the citizens of the country upon whose land it resides, is sinking so low that we should be watching the skies. Even Chicken Little was smart enough to figure out that one! If our sense of justice is no better than that, then we should leave Israel alone and hope they have the sense to destroy the Palestinians in the ensuing "war" before the EU would step in and foist the peace nonsense on them. Arafat and his group have been animals; they are animals today; and they will be animals in the days to come. When a dog becomes rabid we don’t say, "Nice puppy." We put it to sleep! And if we can’t hold a gun to a criminal in one place while we take the other criminal out then maybe we should use missiles!

The US, at least the Christians in the US, are on a precipice, one that Yahshua prophesied two millennia ago. If we do not choose for His people we do not choose Him. We can make all the professions we want, but if we do not support Israel (regardless of their present "spiritual status"), our behavior belies our confession. It takes works to convince of faith and wisdom. If we don’t choose Israel we should not be on the winning team.
