Will Israel Survive?
By Linda Torres, April 3, 2002
Against the background of a large Magen David (star of David for the Hebrew challenged), the cover of Newsweek Magazine this week asks the question, "Will Israel Survive?" I couldn’t make up my mind whether to laugh or cry. If I hadn’t been in a public place and had decided to laugh, I would have been rolling on the floor with tears in my eyes and hooting loud guffaws!
If I had decided to cry, the tears of sorrow for those fated to die (especially the children) would have been rivers of tears and I would have been there for a long time. Would I have been crying for the Jews and their children? NO! Would I be laughing at the Jews? NO! If anyone is paying attention in the real world, they would come to the same conclusion that Frederick the Great came to when advised that the existence of God can be proven by the observation that Israel when all is said and done is still here! Do we see the great Pharaoh or Antiochus Epiphanes? Better yet, where is Hitler in all his might? He couldn’t even die well when he went. The list goes on. And now, by their own pronouncements, the Muslims are up to bat. But the Jews are still here and they are still in their land! And they will be there when the Meshiach arrives to set the world straight and rule it with an iron rod.
It is indeed ludicrous that a world literally hell-bent on condemning every breath Israel takes has not looked over their shoulder. If they did, they did they would see a very big, very angry God of the Universe, tapping His toe and looking at His watch. The world is so busy with their business deals and self-righteous proclamations that they have failed to read the title deed to this earth (that’s the Bible for the scripturally challenged). This legal document begins with a detailed description of Who made the earth and continues throughout with descriptions and confirmations of who owns what by the Owner’s decree. But as I am sure many can testify, they haven’t read the fine print and they haven’t even read the large print or they would be crying for themselves and their children. That’s unless they could figure out that with some groveling they might change the Almighty’s thoughts toward them.
A question such as this reveals the philosophy underlying the thinking of the world. They have taken the events in Israel far enough with their shallow mental machinations to champion Goliath and presuppose that because Israel is outnumbered by human perception (the liberals are the majority at least in the press) that they must consider the ball game almost over and begin to contemplate what we must do with the losers in Ha Eretz (that’s the land, again for the Hebrew challenged) -- in their mind several million Jews. Funny that question has been asked several times before!
But this is the last time that stupid question will be asked (I used to think there were no stupid questions).
And because the time is running out to pick sides for the final competition for the land in question, I strongly recommend that those of you that have not read the fine print or the large print better get down and read one or the other before they choose up sides because the rules of this game specify that the losers get an all expenses paid vacation to a very hot destination for a very long time. The Umpire of this game starts the game not with a whistle but with a trumpet. And when the trumpet sounds it will be too late to decide what has been determined since the beginning of time: in fact Israel will survive!
